I'm a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Oklahoma State University, where I teach writing and film studies. I'm the author of The Hard Sell of Paradise: Hawai’i, Hollywood, Tourism (SUNY University Press, 2022), Flickers of Film: Nostalgia in the Time of Digital Cinema (Rutgers University Press, 2015), Blossoms and Blood: Postmodern Media Culture and the Films of Paul Thomas Anderson (University of Texas Press, 2013), and Disney’s Most Notorious Film: Race, Convergence, and the Hidden Histories of Song of the South (University of Texas Press, 2012). I am currently writing a book on the cinema of Alexander Payne.
