I've decided to start blogging again. In addition to having a little more time to write in the summer, the more immediate occasion is that I'm transitioning to a new writing project this year, having finally sent off to my publisher all the final materials (manuscripts, images, promotional documents) for the previous project on Hawai'i in US film and television (from roughly 1930-1970) that I started working on in 2014.
The next book will be on the cinema of Alexander Payne--a project I've had on the immediate backburner for several years now. I've spent most of this month starting again on the manuscript and at the moment have bigger plans for the summer ahead.
There will be a lot of news on both of those in the coming months, as well as some other notes related to my writing and publications. So it seems like a good time to turn back to the world again. I don't know how much I'll do with this blog, but I like having a public platform to share new ideas and developments.
